Georgia MasterTrack

Frequently Asked Questions

MasterTrack is a series of continuing education courses in every discipline of general dentistry. The requirements for Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry include participation (versus lecture) hours in each of the following disciplines:

Periodontics, Occlusion, Cosmetics, Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, Oral Pathology, Fixed Prosthodontics, Operative Dentistry, Removable Prosthodontics, and Implants.

The Georgia MasterTrack curriculum provides all necessary participation hours required to obtain Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry.

The advantages of Georgia MasterTrack over other series are:

  • Meets over a 5 year period (once per quarter vs. other programs that meet monthly for 2 years)
  • Established, nationally recognized program (often replicated, never duplicated!)
  • Meets or exceeds all requirements for participation and lecture hours in every discipline required for Mastership
  • Augusta, Georgia location
  • Small class size
  • Camaraderie with a group of elite, like-minded peers
  • Excellent course content and instructors
  • Classes are closed to new registration after the start of the continuum. This stable class structure facilitates long-term relationships and cohesiveness of the group.

The Georgia course meets one weekend per quarter for five (5) years. Typical class sessions are Friday and Saturday from 8am until 6pm and Sunday from 8am until 2pm.

For the first time in the history of Georgia MasterTrack, the location will be Augusta, Georgia!

Class size is limited in order to keep the ratio of student to teacher low for the participation courses. The small class size allows students to get to know each other and develop lifelong friendships with dentists from around the southeast.

The total cost of the 5-year MasterTrack continuum is $20,000, paid in annual payments of $6,000, $5,000, $3,900, $2,900 and $2,200; a $1,000 deposit that will be applied to your first year's tuition is required to reserve your place in the class.

Georgia MasterTrack provides 648 hours of continuing education with 576 of those hours in participation courses. That is just slightly over $30 per hour for professional CE - what a bargain!

Yes. This course will provide above and beyond the hours you need for Fellowship. Then, after completing the course, you are well on your way to Mastership in the Academy. The participation hours you have already earned can be applied to Mastership.

Instructors come from around the world to teach our MasterTrack courses. Lecturers are general dentists in private practice with unique knowledge of a particular discipline. Other times, lecturers are specialists who have a passion to share their knowledge to even better train GPs in their select field.

For example, the first year of MasterTrack IV offered Photography and Oral Diagnosis with Jim Curtis, DMD, GPR program director from Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital; Occlusion with Henry Gremillion, DDS, from the University of Florida; Periodontics with Timothy Hempton, DDS, MA, a periodontist from Tufts University; and Operative Dentistry from Bruce Small, DMD, president of The Institute of New Techniques in Dentistry in Lawrenceville, NJ.

  • Mastership in the Academy: Once you attain Mastership, you will be a part of an elite group of dentists (only 2%) who can boast this accomplishment!
  • Growth of Your Practice: Because the continuum covers classes in all disciplines of general dentistry you will have many opportunities to incorporate new techniques and materials into your practice.
  • Becoming a Better Clinician: You will be asked to present cases to your peers throughout the series. This will enhance your attention to documentation and clinical excellence. You will stretch "outside of your box" to be able to include new methods and technologies in your practice for yourself and your patients.
  • Making Lifelong Professional Connections: One of the most rewarding results of the Mastertrack series are the lifelong friendships you will make over the five years you are committed to this group. The dentists who take this course tend to be likeminded individuals with a goal of excellence in dentistry. You will utilize your time learning through quality continuing education that is not corporately biased.

Dentists who strive to become excellent clinicians take this course. Previous classes have seen a nice mix of practitioners in the early years of their careers along with more seasoned dentists. Some participants begin the program already a Fellow in the Academy; others achieved this honor during the MasterTrack course.

The 6th continuum Mastertrack will start November 4-6th, 2022.
